On March 24, 2025, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) released the 2025 Local Responsibility Area (LRA) Fire Hazard Severity Zone Maps for Southern California.
The maps are currently available for public review and comment. Please use this form to comment on the Rancho Santa Margarita Fire Hazard Severity Zone Map.
The City is required to adopt the map by ordinance within 120 days, or by August 21, 2025. The City Council will consider an ordinance to adopt the map within the coming months. Updates on the process are available on the City's website, including an Interactive Map Viewer, where you can enter your address and check which zone your property is in.
