Bridge Hinge Project Graphic Update 09142020

Construction this week will occur behind protective concrete barriers. Thank you for your patience during the previous closure of the westbound bridge.

Santa Margarita Parkway Bridge Hinge Repair Project Construction Update

A temporary support system is now in place to sustain the bridge while the worn hinge is demolished.

The project is unique and challenging;  at an elevation of 65 feet, the SMP bridge is located within an area subject to numerous regulatory agencies.

The bridge hinge will be reconstructed in two phases, with one-half completed during each phase. The first phase is anticipated to last four to six weeks. Staff will continue to closely monitor the construction to mitigate construction impacts to the greatest extent possible.

Please note that all landscaping, including replacement of Magnolia trees, will occur upon completion of the bridge maintenance project.

Thank you for your patience as we conduct infrastructure improvements for the community, and please drive safely.
