1. How do I report a broken or malfunctioning street light?

Please report all issues to the Southern California Edison (SCE) company as they own and maintain most of the street lights in Rancho Santa Margarita. For more information, please visit the Reporting Street Light Issues page.

2. To whom do I report a traffic signal that is out?

To report a traffic signal outage please submit an online service request through the City's Community Connection System.

3. When is my street swept?

All residential streets in the City of Rancho Santa Margarita are swept by a vacuum type street sweeper once per month. Please contact the City's Public Works Department for more information on when your street is swept at 949-635-1800 or view the map here.

4. My street has no parking signs. When will the Parking Restrictions begin?

Parking Restrictions will begin the week of April 15, 2019.  Implementation will include a 60-day grace period during which cars parked during the restricted hours will receive a warning.  Parking citations with a fine will be issued beginning on Monday, June 17, 2019.

6. Why is the city doing this?

To keep the City streets clean and increase the effectiveness of street sweeping operations, the City of Rancho Santa Margarita is implementing NO PARKING DURING STREET SWEEPING restrictions in fourteen (14) target areas throughout the City.

7. How will I know when street sweeping parking restrictions are in effect?

Look for these signs on local streets.  Signs will be posted in the areas where Street Sweeping Parking Restrictions apply.  Parking restrictions will be in effect beginning Monday, April 15, 2019.  A full schedule and maps can be found at www.cityofrsm.org/536/street-sweeping.

9. What about holidays? Will I get a ticket?

Citations will not be issued on holidays.

10. How much is the ticket for not moving my car?

The fine for the parking citation is $50.00

11. I received a parking citation on street sweeping day. What do I do?

Refer to the information on the back of the citation regarding how to pay the fine.  The back of the ticket reads as follows:

HOW TO PAY THE PARKING VIOLATION PENALTY:

Credit card payments are accepted by phone at (800) 989-2058 or online at www.CitationProcessingCenter.com; or send check/money order payable to the City of Rancho Santa Margarita in a stamped envelope addressed to the City of Rancho Santa Margarita, C/O Citation Processing Center, PO Box 10479, Newport Beach, CA 92658. Write the citation number on the check/money order. DO NOT SEND CASH. Please note that additional monetary penalties are charged for late payment as well as repeat violations of the same offense within a twelve month time period. Citations issued for one of the following violations 4000(a)(1), 5200(a), 5201(c), 5204(a) require evidence of violation correction and vehicle inspection which may be obtained at any police agency. Upon valid proof of correction for each equipment violation, the penalty shall be reduced to $10.00 per violation.
