OC Stories is OC Public Libraries’ online collection of historical photographs and videos. The community is invited to upload pictures to the archive for posterity.
OC Stories is OC Public Libraries’ online collection of historical photographs and videos. OC Stories celebrates the county’s rich cultural diversity by documenting historical events, people, businesses, and institutions over the past 100+ years.
Videos range from interviews with 1932 Olympic Gold Medalist Evelyn Ojeda to a collection from San Juan Capistrano Acjachemen tribal members to interviews with local surfing legends from San Clemente, Dana Point, and Laguna Beach. In addition, OCPL has been awarded a two-year grant to produce an online collection of videos that will be added to OC Stories to highlight the culture and experiences of Orange County’s Vietnamese American community.
If community members have photographs to share relating to Orange County history, they can be uploaded for contribution at http://web.ocpl.org/ocstories/.
Patrons can also digitize their photographs and videos at the OC Memory Lab at the Tustin Library. The Memory Lab is a space for free do-it-yourself digitization to preserve documents, photos, and audiovisual items. OCPL provides the equipment and instructions, and patrons control the process from start to finish.
