[ARCHIVED] City Council selects Holloway to serve as Mayor, McGirr as Mayor Pro Tempore

The City Council on Wednesday, December 12th elected Jerry Holloway to serve as Mayor and Brad McGirr to serve as Mayor Pro Tempore.

Rancho Santa Margarita voters re-elected Council Members Jerry Holloway and Brad McGirr, and elected former Planning Commissioner Anne Figueroa to office on November 6, 2018. They took the Oath of Office at the meeting of December 12, 2018.

Mayor Holloway served on the City Council from 2002 - 2012, holding the office of Mayor in 2005 and 2010, and served as Mayor Pro Tempore in 2018. He was re-elected to the City Council on November 6, 2018. 

Mayor Pro Tempore McGirr was elected to the City Council in November 6, 2012, and served as Mayor Pro Tempore in 2014. After being re-elected to the City Council on November 4, 2014, McGirr served as Mayor in 2015. 

During Wednesday's meeting, the City Council also recognized and thanked Mike Vaughn for his  extensive service to the community and for serving as Mayor this past year. Mayor Vaughn was elected to the City Council in 2014, and did not seek re-election in 2018.

The City Council meets at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. The Council‘s December 26th meeting has been canceled due to the holidays.
