Join the City of Rancho Santa Margarita as we pay tribute to those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and honor those who rose to service in response to the tragedy.

Patriot Day: The Patriot Day remembrance ceremony is scheduled for Monday, September 11th at 5:30 p.m. at the Civic Plaza/Central Park. The ceremony will honor those who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks in the United States on 9/11 and pay tribute to those who rose to service in response to the tragedy.

Mr. Jim Clements will open the ceremony with pledge of allegiance, an invocation, welcome attendees, followed by introduction of the Mayor. 

The program for the 16th Anniversary of 9/11 is as follows:

  • 5:30 p.m. Ceremony will begin immediately after the bells ring with Scouts leading the Pledge of Allegiance and Invocation given by American Legion Post 862
  • Mayor's remarks
  •  Recognition of Military and First Responders
  • Remembering those lost from City and 2nd Battalion/5th Marines
  • Moment of Silence
  • Rifle Salute
  • TAPS Bugler
  • Raising of City Flags
  • 6:15 p.m. Conclusion of Ceremony
