[ARCHIVED] Take loving kitty home for only $20

Cat collage Aug 2017

In an effort to find sweet cats new homes, the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center and Dedicated Animal Welfare Group are covering all adoption fees for adult cats throughout this month. The only cost to you is the $20 microchip fee.

Even though adult cats may have been “preowned,” they aren't like used cars.  They’re not at the Animal Services Center because they are defective or worn out. They may have simply been unable to join their former owner at a new apartment or they were brought in after a family member developed allergies.  Some cats just get lost and end up here.  In other words, they are at the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center by no fault of their own.

When cared for properly, cats can live well into their late teens and sometimes early twenties. Typically, they will remain active and playful throughout most of their lives. Some may need a little extra patience while adjusting to a new home, but once they feel safe and secure again, most will give you years of faithful companionship and unconditional love.

Sadly, for adult cats, most people who adopt gravitate toward the bouncy big-eyed kittens. Older cats sit by and watch, as one loving family after another passes them by for a cute kitten from this season's litter.  But please don’t overlook these sweet adult cats who will make great additions to your home.

So, don’t delay in stopping by the center this month to meet your new family member. The center is located at 28095 Hillcrest. For more information, call 949-470-3045 or visit
