Wednesday, June 14th
6:15 p.m.
Civic Center Plaza

The City’s annual Flag Day event is a community tradition and features patriotic music and inspirational remarks. This year’s event is on Wednesday, June 14th at 6:15 p.m. on the lawn behind City Hall. We encourage you to bring lawn chairs and any worn or damaged US Flags in need of disposal. This is an opportunity to honor the American Flag in partnership with American Legion Post 862 and many local Boy and Girl Scout units.

The ceremony is held to destroy properly – by burning – worn, damaged or otherwise unserviceable American Flags in a dignified manner in accordance with The United States Flag Code which reads: "As a revered symbol of freedom and justice, the flag of the United States of America needs to be treated with the utmost respect. This respect extends to the flag’s eventual retirement and destruction." Flags can be disposed of throughout the year in the flag box receptacle located in the lobby of the Bell Tower Regional Community Center to be included in the retirement ceremony.Click here to view the event flyer.
