Rancho Santa Margarita is recognized annually as one of the safest cities in the State of California and throughout the nation. FBI crime statistics assure us that we live in a secure and safe environment. Criminals might look at a community such as RSM and hope to capitalize on us "letting our guard down." By working together and taking simple steps toward increased crime prevention efforts, we can send a strong message that RSM is vigilant in maintaining the safety and security of our neighborhoods.
Orange County Sheriff’s Deputies serving Rancho Santa Margarita report an increase in the number of thefts from unlocked vehicles throughout the city over the past several weeks. The vast majority of these thefts are the result of people leaving their car doors unlocked or leaving items of value in the car where would-be thieves can easily spot them. Nobody wants to be a victim of crime, but if you leave your purse, computer, tools or other valuable items in your auto, you’re increasing the risk that you will become a theft-from-vehicle victim. The message- if thieves can see it, they will steal it.
