Commissions & Committees

Since the City's incorporation on January 1, 2000, the City Council has formed two additional decision-making and/or advisory bodies: the Planning Commission and the Economic Development Committee.

The Planning Commission was formed on July 1, 2000.  As provided by Government Code sections 65100 et seq., the City Council has, by ordinance, specified the membership qualifications, number of members, and means of selection and removal for Planning Commissioners.  (RSMMC Ch. 2.03.)

On March 24, 2004, the City Council authorized the formation of the Economic Development Committee (EDC.)  In its preliminary directions, the City Council appointed the Mayor as Chair of the EDC, the Mayor Pro Tem as alternate Chair, and directed these Council appointees to choose the initial Committee members, formulate the goals of the Committee, and, in general, get the EDC up and running.  The Council appointees have accomplished their task of establishing a regular and on-going City Committee with stated goals and a specific area of jurisdiction.
